Use the battery and charger that is designed for your tool. Many tools, batteries, and chargers are not interchangeable and may cause damage or even a fire if used incorrectly. Need a battery or charger? Ingersoll Rand offers a variety of batteries and chargers for all our tools. Our IQV20™ batteries are compatible with all IQV20™ series tools and deliver a significant increase in run time, allowing you to work longer and recharge less frequently.
Keep your battery away from metal objects like nails, paper clips, screws etc. that can short the connections and potentially cause a fire. Do not expose the battery to excessive temperatures that could occur if left in a vehicle in the hot sun.
Disconnect the battery from your tool before storing it in a toolbox or bag. If the tool accidentally starts running, it can overheat causing damage or a fire.
Do not leave the battery for a long time at low charge. Keep your batteries charged and ready to use. The battery will hold the charge for a considerable amount.
That said, lithium-ion batteries last longer with regular use. If you don’t use the tool for a long time, charge the batteries periodically. An hour back in the charger will effectively top off the charge, so you’re ready to work.
